Lavender's Blues

Lavender's blue

Lavender's green

When you are king, I will be queen

Lavender's green

Lavender's blue

You must love me because I love you

Down in the vale where the flowers did grow

And pretty birds lined up all in a row

A brisk young man met with a maid

And laid her down

He laid her down under the shade singing

There they did play and kiss and court

All the fine day making good sport

Therefore be kind while here we lie

And you might join

You just might join my dog and I singing

I heard them say since you came hither

That you and I might lie together

For we are now joined here as one

And we will have

We just might have this bit of fun singing
